A once in a lifetime opportunity to taste a range of exceptionally rare Vintage Ports and Madeiras from 1835 to 1983 with several vintages in between. Hosted by the renowned world expert Bartholomew Broadbent live from his wine importing business in Virginia (USA) alongside Caviste director, Mark Bedford. The impressive and exceptionally rare line up will include the following wines:
1983 Krohn Colheita Port
1959 Niepoort Colheita Port (Single Vintage Tawny)
1927 Fearon Block Vintage Port
1920 Dow Vintage Port
1908 Cockburn Vintage Port
1895 St John’s College vintage Port (probably Dow)
1835 Leacock Sercial Solera Madeira
Plus a few other Madeiras from Broadbent’s own production and bottling in Funchal (capital of Madeira)
Each guest will receive 50ml bottles of each of the above wines with post 1980 wines in 100ml bottles. The rarity of some of the above bottles is such that only a few remaining bottles of their kind are known to remain in the world and the value of some of these bottles is in excess of £1000 each. You are unlikely to ever encounter these wines again. Son of the author, wine critic and recently departed wine legend Michael Broadbent, Bartholomew is credited with re-introducing Madeira to the USA and is recognised as the world expert on the subject
