Resource Overview

Koyle is the new project of the Undurraga family (Max, accounts; Alfonso, sales; and Cristóbal, viticulture and winemaking). They have sold the company that bears their name and bought a lovely estate near Los Lingues, called Viña Koyle, in Alto Colchagua to make fine red wines which are really putting this sub-region of Chile on the map.

Cristóbal, better known as Toti, is the first of the five generations of the Undurraga family to take on winemaking. He cut his teeth seeking out and learning different styles of winemaking and viticulture around the world, working in Napa Valley, Australia, Bordeaux and Mendoza, before finally returning after seven years and settling in Los Lingues where he has now set himself the challenge of converting his vineyards to biodynamic viticulture so as to best express the unique terroir of the region.

Koyle’s Chilean market, which was all restaurants, has collapsed and their China sales are down significantly so we’re doing everything we can to support the family during this time.

Join buyer Toby Morrhall and Cristóbal as they discuss the winery and its challenges and opportunities this year. Whilst there is no requirement to buy wines in advance of this event, if you do wish to ‘taste along’ the pair will be discussing the following wines:

Koyle Los Lingues Single Vineyard Alto Colchagua Reserva Carmenère 2018
Koyle Costa Rapel Coastal Pinot Noir 2017
Koyle El Peuco Alto Colchagua Tempranillo-Mourvèdre 2015
Koyle Cerro Basalto Garnatxa 2018
