Established by Samuel Smith in 1849, Yalumba is Australia’s oldest family owned winery. Under the leadership of fifth generation Robert Hill-Smith Yalumba’s longevity and success is a result of patience, collaboration and progressive thinking.
There is foresight to embrace the natural terroir to craft wines with individual character and a sense of purpose, a spirit to reinvest in the land upon which it operates and knowledge to behave as a leader in the industry. It is committed to sharing stories of provenance gathered over 171 years of family winemaking.
Yalumba has an enduring commitment to the quintessential Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz blend. If Cabernet Shiraz is known as the Great Australian Red, then Yalumba may well be a contender as the leading exponent of the blend.
In a wine market largely obsessed with single varietal wines, Yalumba has remained steadfast to this most Australian of wine styles.
For more than a century, Cabernet Shiraz has been a fine red wine focus at Yalumba and The Caley their finest example. The Caley 2015 marks the fourth release of this “Super Claret” – the pinnacle of Yalumba’s long winemaking journey of excellence.
These are wines made for longevity and will live on for decades in the cellar.
Robert Hill-Smith is joined by daughter Jessica to guide us through a vertical of the four releases of The Caley.
