We normally like to have a big party in the month of September to mark our anniversary and we would normally celebrate with a big tasting of around 50 wines in a London venue. Given the current situation we've had to think outside of the wine crate and so to celebrate the 6th we will be running 6 tastings that will be showcasing 6 wines on a variety of themes close to HG’s heart.
Ticket price includes the 6x100ml sample-sized bottles per event (delivery included), sent to you in advance. Joining instructions and Zoom meeting links will be emailed a day before the events.
Rarely are we able to offer people the chance to sample mature examples of some of the big names such as Tignanello, Tenuta San Guido, PerSe, Sena, Shafer, and the Mascot. This tasting is one not to be missed and very much new terroir for us here at Honest Grapes; with the 100ml sample service we are using we are able to give you the chance to taste a stunning line-up of coveted wines
Guidalberto, Tenuta San Guido, 2018 (100ml)
First up is the Guidalberto from Tenuta San Guido a stunner of a Super Tuscan that stands on its own but is unfairly better know as the little sibling of the mighty Sassicaia. It really highlights the pedigree of Tenuta San Guido’s wines.
Tignanello, 2015 (100ml)
Next up is one of the most recognised of the Super Tuscans, the one and only Tignanello, for this tasting we have secured the 2015 vintage to exhibit the age-ability of this iconic wine.
PerSe Iubelius, 2015 (100ml)
The next wine from the cool climate terroir in the Uco Valley of Argentina wine duo Edy del Popolo and David Bonomi isn’t an icon yet but we believe it should be and so it was only right to add it to the line-up. The PerSe Iubelius is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Malbec - this is being talked up as one of the first “Grand Cru” wines of Argentina.
Sena, 2016 (100ml)
Sena from the Aconcagua Valley in Chile needs little introduction. A joint project conceived by the wine world heavyweights Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick. Their aim was to make Chile’s first “1st Growth” and the 2016 vintage is most definitely that, highlighting the terroir that can be found in Chile.
Shafer One Point Five, 2016 (100ml)
Touted as "one of the world's greatest wineries" by Robert Parker, Shafer's main focus has been on their luxuriant, richly textured Cabernet Sauvignon and the One Point Five is surely that. From the excellent 2016 vintage this should be showing some wonderful development.
Mascot, 2013 (100ml)
We will close out the evening with a wine coming from a private project of one of the most renowned wine makers in the USA, the legendary Bill Harlan. The Mascot began life as a project to produce a wine for Bill to have with friends but it has now become a wine can all enjoy and experience the excellent wine making pedigree of Harlan without paying the eye-watering sums for his top wines.
