Rather than the asperity of Dry January, we thought we'd start 2021 in a spirit of optimism and adventure and shed some light on some of the rare but wonderful grape varieties that inhabit our shelves. Of course we love a claret and a sauvignon blanc, but with thousands of grape varieties making wine across the globe, how many of us take the opportunity to drink beyond classic and well-known varietal wines? This tasting brings together Italy's nero buono, just one of many native varieties that this country protects fiercely against internationalisation, as well as the charming moschofilero of Greece and the spicy intensity of mavrud from Bulgaria.”
