Join Tim Sykes, buyer for Bordeaux, as we get exclusive access to Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu, son of the late, legendary winemaker Denis Dubourdieu.
Jean-Jacques will discuss three top Château owned by his family - Château Doisy-Daëne, Clos Floridène and Château Reynon.
Combined, they own 135 hectares of vineyards in the Sauternes, Graves, and Cadillac-Cotes de Bordeaux regions. They use a traditional ploughing system and are committed friends of the environment: they no longer use weed killer, they fertilise the vines with organic manure, and all bud removal, trellising and leaf removal is done by hand. Their carbon footprint is a conscious issue too: they own a forest equal to the size of their vineyards as a way of repaying their debt to the land.
These three estates really do provide something for everyone from dry whites to luscious sweet wines and ripe merlot-based reds to aromatic and age-worthy cabernet-based wines.
For any white Bordeaux, claret or Sauternes fans, this is an evening to put in the diary immediately!
