Sessions 1-2 and 3-4 are available separately, if you want to explore a particular interest, or join for the whole journey! Can’t make it on the day? Don’t worry, each Session will be uploaded onto YouTube for you to taste along with at your own leisure.
Session 1: The Whites - Weds 20th Jan
We head back to basics in Session 1 of Taste Lab Live and will take you through the holy trinity of white wine: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. You’ll learn about the four Ss of wine tasting (“see it, sniff it, slurp it, savour it!”) and apply it to three wonderful white wines from France and Germany with a keen eye for the different styles of the wines.
Session 2: Wine Tasting 101 – The Reds Thurs 28th Jan
Having got to grips with the whites last week, in Session 2 we’ll round off the Wine Tasting 101 with three classic red varietals: Merlot, Sangiovese and Pinot Noir. Building off from what you learned in the previous session, this time you’ll also look at differences between New World and Old World wines by comparing two gems from France and Italy with a classic Californian Pinot.
Session 3: Sustainable Superstars Thurs 4th Feb
Now that you’ve learned all about the basics of red and white wine, in Session 3 you’ll enjoy three less familiar wines at the forefront of the organic revolution in winemaking. What does organic wine mean? Where do natural and vegan/vegetarian wines fit in? The Wine Gurus will reveal all as we taste two fascinating under the radar gems from Italy alongside a gorgeous Spanish Monastrell.
Session 4: March of the New World Big Reds Thurs 11th Feb
To draw the series to a satisfying conclusion we’ll sample the delights of three powerful, knock-out reds from the New World. Forming the bedrock of a relatively new and super popular style of winemaking, you’ll get to try some of the world’s best-loved classic combos: Chilean Carmenere, Argentinian Malbec and Aussie Shiraz. You’re an expert now, well done!
