Tablas Creek is a Rhône Ranger in the truest sense. Robert Haas co-founded the Paso Robles winery with Jacques Perrin of Château de Beaucastel after decades travelling the US together, with Robert acting as Jacques’ importer. Convinced that California could produce top quality Rhône-style wines, the pair finally settled on a property and in 1989 Tablas Creek was born.
Since then, it has become the ultimate homage to the Rhône. The winery boasts its own nursey with authentic Rhône clones and bench-grafted vines as well as use of French oak in the winery and sticking to traditional blends.
Jason Haas, son of Robert, has been the General Manager of the winery since 2006 and continues to drive the ethos and quality there whilst also introducing organic and biodiverse viticulture.
We’re delighted Jason can join us ahead of Thanksgiving to share the epic tale of Tablas Creek as well as give members a little extra information about his two wines that feature in our upcoming November Fine Wine List:
Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas Blanc Paso Robles 2018
Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas Rouge Paso Robles 2017
You don’t need to buy Jason’s wine in advance, although of course we do encourage you to enjoy his wines whilst you watch (or at least a tipple of something Rhone-style or Californian!)
