For many people the glass of fizz at the start of the meal is among the most enjoyable drink of the evening. These wines are crafted by the wine maker and the processes involved in making the sparkle is key. We will try different Champagne look-a-likes from around the world (e.g. Cava, Prosecco) and compare Champagne with English Sparkling Wine!
We will learn about the historical method that gives us the most beautiful bubbly and look at the terms on the labels (e.g. 'NV', 'Brut' and 'Blanc de Blanc') and what these actually tell us about the wine inside the bottle. But the world of sparkling wine is far more diverse than Champagne alone - we will also examine other wines made in the same way and ask 'are they as good?'
Champagne with fish and chips is a classic food and wine pairing that simply must be experienced!
Throughout the evening you will find out:
How different sparkling wines are made
What accounts for the varying styles and tastes
Why Champagne can be so expensive
The quality differences a vintage Champagne makes
How and why fish and chips pair well with sparkling wine!
Food and wine matching techniques
We will be serving you a delicious meal of Fish and Chips, with peas and Tartare Sauce, (or a vegetarian alternative) paired with a total of 6 Sparkling Wines including a Champagne. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please let us know by email at the time of booking so that we can organise something for you.
This is a tasting not to be missed! This tasting is also the last part of our World of Wine Series.
Alternatively, do you know someone who would love to receive this as a gift?
