Australian Fine Wine Masterclass with Simon Woods - Manchester Verified listing

We’re very excited to announce our first Australian Wine Masterclass. Manchester Wine School’s owner and director Simon Woods cut his wine teeth Down Under, and has since been back several times to visit all the major wine regions and also be the guest international judge at a number of wine shows.

In this tasting, he’ll lead you through several classic wine styles from around the country, beginning with sparkling wine and finishing with rich, succulent Liqueur Muscat. The line-up of the wines in between is still to be finalised, but will include Hunter Valley Semillon, Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz in both blended and unblended form.

As well as showing the diversity of styles available, the tasting will also show just how far Australia has moved on from the overripe, overoaked styles of 20 years ago. There’s still no shortage of the friendly flavours that first captured out hearts, but today’s wines are more subtle and complex, and are getting better with each vintage.

As with all our Masterclasses, there’ll be eight wines with an average retail price of £25+, including some that are no available longer in the shops from the MWS cellars. There’ll also be some cheese to sample in between the sips.
