Description

Albariño from Rías Baixas in North West Spain is normally thought of as being a DYA type of wine – Drink Youngest Available. However, anyone who’s been in a position to try examples that are that little bit older has usually been agreeably surprised. Not only do the wines hold up well, but they’re often all the better for the extra age.

For evidence of this, join us as we taste our way through seven Albariños, including examples from stars of the region such as Granbazán, Pazo de Senorans and Fefiñanes. We’re confirming vintages at the moment but there’s definitely a 2015 in the line-up, and we suspect that one of the three 2017s is actually from 2011 - if it’s the one we think it might be, it sells for £50+ and Decanter magazine recently awarded it 97 points…

But even if it’s not, the tasting will be fascinating, and we’re hoping to have pre-recorded videos from some of the producers to provide background on their wines, their region and their favourite time to drink Albariño.

However, we only have one bottle of each these wines, so places are limited to 13 – lucky for those who manage to grab one, unlucky for everyone else…
