Resource Overview

Producing over 3.5m hectolitres, the southern Rhône is the second-biggest region for the production of appellation contrôlée wine after Bordeaux. More than half of the production in the southern Rhône is of Côtes-du-Rhône – youthful, fruit-forward and extremely tasty, but there is a wealth of different wine-styles to experience here with the more serious wines from Côtes-du-Rhône Villages and the named villages in the region, such as Rasteau, producing wines with generosity and weight.

Emma Briffett of the Tastings Team will take a virtual tour of the southern Rhône, exploring the value that can be found in the region by focusing on some of the lesser known crus in the region. So, grab yourself a glass of wine and join her as she finds that there really is value in the Southern Rhône.
