Vignobles Despagne are pillars within the Entre-Deux-Mers and their respected presence in Bordeaux reaches back for 250 years. In 1990 they bought Château Bel-Air Peroncher and through careful and dedicated cultivation, which since 2008 has been organic, they produce wines of great renown. However, the Entre-Deux-Mers is less well known than other regions of Bordeaux and sometimes has to fight hard for a seat at the table, and even harder in the current circumstances. So, because of their exceptionally high standard we want to shout about them, loud and proud, to members.
We welcome Basaline Despagne who runs Château Bel-Air Perponcher, as she joins our Bordeaux buyer, Tim Sykes, for this event. Many members may be familiar with Basaline as she often attends our physical tastings to show her wines, or you may have visited yourself and experienced her generous hospitality, not to mention her excellent cooking! Were so pleased to feature both the Château Bel Air Perponcher Réserve, Bordeaux Blanc 2019 and Château Bel Air Perponcher Rouge Réserve, Bordeaux 2018 in the Backing Our Best Growers 2020 offer; Basaline and Tim will be discussing and tasting these wines so why not get a bottle in to taste along too?
